Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust

We support the vital work of the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust who lead the way in the conservation of whales, dolphins and porpoises in the waters of western Scotland. The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust’s vision is healthy Hebridean seas for whales, dolphins, porpoises and people. Their mission is to conserve Hebridean whales, dolphins and porpoises through robust science, inspirational education and meaningful engagement so that they thrive in harmony alongside coastal communities. Based on the Isle of Mull, in the heart of the Hebrides, HWDT working for the conservation of whales, dolphins and porpoises for over two decades.

The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust believe that evidence is the foundation of effective conservation, and data collected on numerous research voyages, provides detailed information that assists in the protection of minke whales, Risso’s dolphins, harbour porpoises, and basking sharks. This research has also critically advanced the understanding of species that visit seasonally or are resident in the seas throughout the Hebrides.

HWDT work directly with communities to encourage stewardship of these rich seas and their education programmes reach out to over 20,000 people each year.  Their work is consistently highlighting the importance of the marine environment and how vital it is that we work to protect it for future generations to come.
